St George hospital’s secret tunnel The 1.5 km-long tunnel was part of Fort George, built to defend the region in 1769. The three arms of the tunnel are believed to lead to the Gateway of India, Blue Gate and Churchgate. Some believe it might even be connected to other tunnels. It is made of black basalt rock, brought from stone quarries of Gujarat; a reason why it has sustained the weather.
