Description

Dolmabahce Palace, Turkey This palace, built in 19th century, was the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire and served as the residence for the last Sultan. Popular Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk used the palace as a residence. Backed by centuries of history, this grand place is the largest in Turkey and covers a total area of a whopping 11.1 acres. The palace is home to as many as 285 rooms, 46 halls, six baths, and 68 toilets. The design and architecture of this palace is known to have eclectic elements from the Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical styles, which is further blended with traditional Ottoman architecture in order to create a new synthesis.
