Kaiserpfalz Goslar (known in English as the Imperial Palace of Goslar) was built in the 11th century and used as a summer residence by the Holy Roman Emperors until the 13th century. Included as part of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Goslar, the palace was the largest secular building of its time. Art historians consider it one of the best examples of 11th century architecture. Additionally, the grounds of the palace are home to cathedral remnants, churches, and chapels. After the palace was abandoned in the mid-13th century, it remained in disrepair until the 1860s. It has now been fully restored and remains one of the main tourist destinations in Goslar.
