Chenonceau Castle near the small village of Chenonceaux, France spans the River Cher and was built sometime around the 11th century. The mix of architecture gives the castle a unique look. The castle made it through both World Wars, acting as a hospital ward in the first and survived a bombing by the Germans in June 1940.
