Among the narrow streets of Orta San Giulio, in a place where time seems to have stopped, there is a world to explore. The small village, located in the Novara area, has a historical, artistic and natural heritage which makes it one of the tourist destinations par excellence. The town, which has just over 1200 inhabitants, stands on the shores of Lake Orta, one of the most beautiful and romantic bodies of water in Northern Italy. The historic center winds its way through stone streets that reach the water and characteristic structures much loved by tourists. Orta San Giulio also has an elevated area, which completely dominates the lake: we are talking about the hamlet of Legro, which is also the economic center of the municipality. This, also called the "painted country", is a place of a thousand colors. On the walls of many buildings, in fact, artists from all over Italy and Europe have designed frescoes that portray the history of this small village perched on the slopes of the Mottaro. For a romantic weekend or a trip out of town, Lake Orta and its splendid pearl (Orta San Giulio) are the perfect choice. The country is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy, which welcomes small towns inhabited by a marked historical and artistic interest. Just outside the town, stands the wonderful Villa Crespi, one of the most imposing structures in the area. Inside today there is a hotel and the famous restaurant of the same name managed by the chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo.
